Electrical Cables

Manufactured by an ISO 9002 certified company of electrical cables Viz. power, control, Instrumentation, Thermocouple Extension cables & winding wire for submersible motors, having flexibility of producing entire range of cables independently.

The total installed capacity of manufacture are as follows:-

  • Power Cables (PVC / XLPE) 150-175 km per month (Assorted sizes)

  • Control Cables (PVC / XLPE) 300-350 km per month ( " ).

  • Instrumentation (PVC / XLPE) 250-300 km per month ( " ) .

  • Thermo couple Extension 200-250 km per month ( " ).

PVC and XLPE LT Power Cables
LT Power cables with PVC or XLPE insulation of voltage grade upto 3.3KV conforming to various Indian and International Standard Specifications.

Cross Linked Polyethylene (XLPE)
XLPE means cross-linked polyethylene or vulcanized polyethylene. The basic material is low density polyethylene. Polyethylene is a thermoplastic material consisting of long chain of hydrocarbon molecules. At elevated temperatures these molecules tend to more relative to one another so that the material becomes increasingly deformable and will eventually melt at the temperature around 110o

By means or process similar to the vulcanization of rubber the polyethylene molecules can be cross- linked. The process of cross - linking or vulcanization consists of producing chemical bonds at interval between the long molecular chain to give a " ladder" effect which prevents slippage between molecules. As a result of cross-linking the material becomes heat resistant and does not soften at higher tempera- tures.

Further it has better resistance to stress cracking and good resistance to ageing in hot air. With the change of structure there in no adverse effect on electrical properties.

Advantages of XLPE CABLES

Dielectric losses are very small.
Higher current carrying capacity.
Higher short circuit rating 250oC as against 160°o C for PVC.
KEI XLPE can retain flexibility down upto - 40oC.
Jointing and Termination is easy.
Light in weight.
They are not prone to fatigue damages due to vibrations or loading cycles.
Has better resistance to most chemicals, oils, acids, etc.
Can be installed along cable routes without elevation limitations.

Optical Fibre Cables Top ^

Cable manufactured by ISO 9001 certified company in technical collaboration with BICC of UK, having a capacity of 60000 Fbire kilometer(fkm).  The plant has a modern laboratory equipped with test equipments such as fibre geometry test set, fibre analysis system, chromatic dispersion system, power meter, sensors, optical fibre switch, OTDR, etc. besides the raw material testing facilities.   Cables can be offered as per international specifications as well as individualised customer requirement, also offers a vast range of jointing closure kits(straight joints, branch joints, patch cords, pig tails, tool kit,  connectors) .

Cable description  : The cable is constructed using a fibre reinforced plastic central strength member. Around this are stranded polybutylene terapthalate loose tubes (Containing single mode fibres and thixotropic jelly)  and polyethylene fillers, if required. The Interstices are filled with water repellant compound and a polyester tape iswrapped over the core.  This is sheathed with black high density polyethylene. For a  duct cable, an anti-termite Nylon 12 jacket is extruded over the sheath. For an armoured cable, the sheath is covered with a corrugated steel tape over which is extruded a layer of high density polyethylene.  For an aerial cable, a layer of high modulus aramid yarn is applied over the sheath as a peripheral tension relief member, and a layer of high density polyethylene is extruded as an outer jacket.
